Introduction to the unit

The CIPD Level 5 qualification requires learners to research a specific HR topic within their industry. In this unit, learners are expected to demonstrate their ability to research by evaluating different research materials to ensure a thorough understanding of the research topic. The structure of the document

To demonstrate that the learner has completed all elements of the research, a document must be produced that explains the methods and results of the research with clear subheadings. Content page; highlights main topics and subtopics covered in the research. This allows research audiences to locate information easily and quickly.

In the introduction, the researcher explains the research topic and assists learners in understanding the context in which the research is being conducted. In the introduction part of the assessment, you should discuss the purpose and objectives of the research and the selection of key stakeholders.

Research literature review; this is the second part of the research process, where the researcher selects different secondary resources to review what has already been studied about the subject.

Critique of literature review helps determine the similarities or differences between secondary sources used in a literature review. The first subheading under this topic should justify the chosen research’s justification, explaining the significance of the source of research, under the second sub-heading, which research methods have advantages and disadvantages. The third subheading relates to how the information gathered from the research is applied to the business or industry being studied.

Presenting the proposed findings; based on the review and critique of the method used, the results should be presented as line graphs, bar graphs, or pie charts.

Conclusions and recommendations; these are the last sections of the study where the conclusion is well-developed, and recommendations are provided to improve the area of investigation based on the study results.

References; this gives the sources that were used to complete the research. The sources should be reputable, credible, and up-to-date. They should follow the Harvard referencing format that the CIPD has approved.

Upon completing this level of education, the audience or the readers should evaluate the research that the learners undertook. Therefore, it is necessary to present the research document in a way that both attracts the attention of audiences and at the same time makes the document convincing. Therefore, the information presented must convince the reader that all parts of the research have been developed effectively to bring about conclusions that strengthen the development of the research topic.
