7LTD Learning and Talent Development

An optional module called 7LTD Learning and Talent Development is available as part of the Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management. There are 15 credits for it, and 75 guided learning hours are included.
The Module’s Purpose and Goal
The development of talent is an integral component of talent management. The unit is recognised and acknowledged as a critical lever for achieving social, economic, and cultural objectives. In addition, it ensures that the goals of the government, organisations, and individuals are met.
Perhaps less recognised but equally significant is the role of learning and development in formulating and setting aspirations, ambitions, and objectives. Therefore, this module places a strong emphasis on learning and talent development in goal formulation and achievement.
In addition, it is also crucial to conceptualise talent in terms of its contextual nature and its links with national and organisational policies and strategies that promote similarly contextual understandings of success.
Therefore, it is intended that this module fosters a critical understanding of the potential and limitations of learning and talent development policies and strategies for formulating and achieving goals. Nationally, organizationally, in groups, and individually, this can allow the development of intellectual, social, professional, and personal skills necessary to perform effectively in professional roles.
Lastly, this module is intended to teach students how to critically analyse theories and practices from an ethical and professional perspective. Furthermore, it provides opportunities for applied learning and continuous professional development while examining implications for professional practice.
Who should take this module?
Those who should take this module include:
- Have the responsibility and authority to make human resource decisions within an organisation. The decisions can be operational, tactical, or more strategic.
- Work in a team or have an HR functional management role and are looking to advance and take your career to the next level?
- Have responsibilities for HR activities and functions in an organisation that does not have a specialist function. Students should enrol in this module to become specialists in their field.
- Are self-employed or employed consultants who assist businesses in reaching their goals.
- Aspirations to become a human resource professional and a member of the CIPD. CIPD professional membership is earned through the completion of this module.
Learning Outcomes: What are they?
Students who complete this unit will be able to:
- Assess how the learning and development processes are formulated and implemented. It is possible to use these strategies to determine current and future levels of effectiveness at the national, organisational, group, and individual levels.
- Analyse the benefits and appropriateness of a wide range of learning and talent development strategies, policies, and methods given the relevant context.
- Developing, introducing, and implementing learning strategies, interventions, and activities.
- Diagnose and respond to issues and problems related to learning and talent development efficiently and collaboratively with key internal and external partners. In addition, they should make sure that everyone understands their roles and how they can contribute to the agreed-upon solutions.
- Analyse and shape the politics of learning and talent development in various contexts.
- Conduct themselves ethically and professionally, demonstrating an appreciation for equal opportunity and diversity in learning and talent development and committing to personal and professional growth.
Criteria for Assessment – What are they?
At least 50% of the learning outcomes will be assessed through summative assessment. Various activities such as teaching, learning, and formative assessment assess the remaining learning outcomes. Some examples of formative assessment activities may include:
- Work on projects
- Integrated work activities
- Detailed reports
- Group presentations and individual presentations
- Viva Voce
Furthermore, competency-based assessments may only be performed in assessment centers that have been approved for this method. In addition, the assessors must possess a relevant occupational background.
